​ This question hadn’t truly resonated with me until over a decade ago, when my mother was diagnosed with early-onset dementia in her 50s. Witnessing her memories fade was a profound wake-up call, revealing just how swiftly our most treasured stories, family histories, and traditions can slip away. Determined to prevent this loss for other families, my daughter and I co-founded Memories In Writing LLC in 2012. We believe that everyone—famous, infamous, or somewhere in between—has a story to tell. As I juggled my responsibilities in the business, pursued my career, cared for my children, and supported three aging parents, each grappling with their own stage of dementia, my commitment to helping others capture their legacies only intensified. Like many in the ‘sandwich generation’—balancing care for our children and aging parents—I saw firsthand the urgency of capturing memories before they faded. ​ These experiences shaped a deeper purpose. I realized that the tools we created at Memories In Writing could serve an even broader mission—one focused not just on preserving individual legacies but on empowering communities to do the same.
